Creating Self Esteem: Boosting Your Self Worth

Do You Value Yourself?

A common pit we all fall into is thinking less than the best about ourselves. It is really true that what you believe about yourself affects the way you are, so it makes a lot of sense to cultivate of self-worth. A positive attitude and confidence will bring positive results. People who are aware of their own value, and who have a strong belief in themselves are the ones most likely to succeed at what they do, whether it's personal, professional or relationship success. This kind of person is happier, more balanced and can easily achieve goals they confidently set for themselves.

Don't Think Badly of Yourself - It's Bad for You!

You might not think so, but it can be harmful to have a low opinion of yourself. For one thing, if you don't feel good about yourself, it's hard to feel good about anything. You feel victimized, and can end up in unhealthy relationships, believing yourself not good enough for a better one. Fears and anxieties abound, and frustration can bog you down even further. Low self-esteem is closely linked with narcotic, alcohol and nicotine addictions, eating problems like anorexia and bulimia, and compulsive disorders like obsessive shopping or binge eating.

Feel Good About Yourself

We can best discover the potential within ourselves by understanding, recognizing and acknowledging our own value. Don't think badly of yourself, get into the habit of giving yourself positive feedback, and appreciating your contribution to a job well done. It won't be easy to break the habits we have formed over the years of childhood and maturity, but it is possible to change the way you think and feel about yourself. Having a positive feeling about yourself gives you immeasurable self-confidence, and high self-esteem brings about results that further establish your sense of self value.

How To Develop Your Self-Worth

Within each and every one of us is the ability to assess and improve our self-worth. All we have to do is train ourselves to think positively about ourselves, and eliminating uncertainties and self-doubt.

What we need to do, as the first steps in the right direction, is to learn to spot a negative, discouraging thought as it forms and stop it right there. Instead, make a positive affirmation that will lead too positive results. Here are some simple affirmations that will reinforce your belief in yourself:

-"This is a wonderful challenge" instead of "This is beyond my abilities"

-"I am confident of success" rather than "I can't do this!"

-"I can do whatever I put my mind to" instead of "I don't know if I can handle this"

These are easy ways to alter your outlook on life to a brighter one, increasing your sense of self-worth and improving your chances of success in whatever you do.
